++How should I dress?

We operate on a "come as you are" basis.  If you are comfortable in jeans, that's great.  If khaki pants are your thing, then go for it. And some prefer their "Sunday best". Don't second-guess what you're wearing (as long as it's not your birthday suit ). We are definitely more interested and concerned with getting to know who you are, and about your real life needs, rather than what you wear.

 

 

++What should I Bring?

Preferably, bringing a Bible (New American Standard or your preferred translation) with you will help during worship. The lesson material in Sunday School provides the scripture in King James and Holman Christian Standard. If you don't have a Bible, or forgot to bring your Bible, some are available in the Sanctuary pews.

 

 

++When Do I Need To Arrive?

Sunday School begin at 9:45 and the worship service begins at 11:00 am.

 

 

++Do you have a Sunday School class for me and my family?

Sure do! We have Sunday School ("Bible Study") classes for all ages! Nursery, Preschool, Children, Youth, College & Career, Ladies, Men's, and Adults Coed are our current classes. We hope to increase our classes as time goes by, and if you feel led to teach, by all means we will work to get a new class going! Come on and bring yourself and your family and join us for Bible Study each week!

 

 

++Do I have to stand up in front of everyone?  That makes me feel weird.
Trust us, we know how you feel being singled out. We have a greeting time at the beginning of the worship service when everyone has the opportunity to mingle and say hello to each other. All we ask of guests is that they fill out the information sheet located in the bulletin.  This allows us to have a record of your visit with us.

After the morning message, we offer a time that you can freely come and speak with the pastor or pray at the altar as the Lord leads you.

 

 

++What kind of music do you play?
It's a good thing you ask. This is a common (and often troubling) question among churches today. We focus our music on worshiping God.  We have blended music combining modern praise & worship songs with traditional hymns. This way we experience music that appeals to people from any age group.

 

 

++If Cowan Mill Church is Baptist, why is it not Cowan Mill Baptist Church?

That's another good question. Kind of how we offer a blended music service, if you draw the concept to the name of the church, we have a "blended" name. It's true that some people stay away from church when they hear "Baptist" (or any other denomination for that matter). We want to outreach to as many people as possible and it helps by not using "Baptist" in the church name.
